Tips on Awakening Dull Winter Complexions and Achieving a Healthy Spring Glow

Last week, we shared 7 tips to help your skin transition to spring skincare and this week I am diving deeper into some of those tips based on dermatologist recommendations.

1. Exfoliate to Remove Dead Skin

The dermatologists we follow all agree the first step to get back glowing skin is to exfoliate your old skin.

A chemical peel is a great way to kickstart a springtime regime as they quickly exfoliate and trigger collagen production helping to create a youthful, glowing complexion. They recommend to not be too vigorous if you use an exfoliating product and say once weekly is a good balance.

🌷 The bamboo scrub & glacial clay extract in Nayelle’s CLEANSE Facial Wash gently exfoliates your skin on a daily basis. It is pH balanced as well to protect your skin.

2. Switch to a Lighter Moisturizer

During dry winters, a heavy cream is like a godsend, but not needed during hot weather. Dermatologist explain that choosing a lighter moisturizers will absorb quicker and a gel-based formula is a good option.

🌷 HYDRATE Probiotic Day Cream is full of antioxidant rich, super food ingredients and is a more gel-like cream compared to Nayelle’s REJUVENATE Night cream.

3. Select Antioxidant Rich Skincare

With the warmer weather comes the higher risk of sun-induced sun spots that are extremely difficult to remove. When the skin is exposed to UV rays, free radicals are generated that can damage DNA and accelerate the breakdown of collagen and elastin. Sun exposure is unfortunately the largest contributor to ageing. Antioxidant rich skincare – high in Vitamin A-E help to stabilize the free radicals and decrease sun damage.

🌷 REVITALIZING Probiotic Serum has 5% niacinamide which is a natural vitamin B.
It is one of the best antioxidants proven to diminish fine lines and wrinkles and it fights the free radicals that cause sunspots & aging. Having this high percentage of Niacinamide is a huge benefit to your skin.

4. Apply Daily SPF

The sun feels so good and lifts our spirits so go ahead and enjoy, but dermatologist highly recommend a daily application. It is proven that the suns UVA and UVB rays are the biggest contributor to ageing. They recommend keeping a few bottles one in your bathroom and one in your vehicle or office so you can reapply throughout the day.

🌷 My personal favourite is La Roche Posey tinted. It has a 60 SPF protection and the tinted looks like a nice light foundation. Unlike the untinted that can leave a slight ghost-look appearance to your face. It is also very light and quickly absorbed so you don’t feel like you have a sticky sunscreen on.

Take care and hope you see a new “glow” to your skin using these tips!
