Over the past few years every summer across North America has been defined by record setting temperatures and sun intensity. It has never been more important to protect your skin when venturing out in the sun. Did you know that one person dies of Melanoma every hour and sun exposure is the #1 cause of premature skin aging? Thankfully Nayelle skincare is designed to moisturize, replenish and protect your skin from exposure to the sun but there are also many practical steps you can take to help further guard yourself and keep your skin healthy this summer.
1. No Sun Tanning, No Problem. Ways To Achieve a Perfect Faux Glow:
Needless to say sun tanning is definitely out when it comes to protecting your skin but you can still achieve a beautiful golden glow with the use of a self-tanner. They almost all work best when used a day or two before hitting the beach. Some spray tanners work really well too. If you are tight on time, or just need something quick we recommend using Sun Bum Self Tanning Towelettes (in Fair to Medium Skin Tones). They contain Vitamin E which helps to moisturize dry skin (our legs are very prone to dry skin due to the absence of oil glands), aloe which is naturally healing and hydrating, and are paraben free. They do have a subtle tropical coconut scent, which we find very relaxing and suitable for every summer occasion. Be sure to use the wipe in circular motions on dry skin so that you don’t have any streaking and of course, wash your hands after use.
2. Moisture Wicking Workout Apparel:
The summer is a perfect time for so many outdoor activities like golf, tennis, surfing, fishing and hiking. Even on vacation many people stay really active and keep up with their workout routines. We recommend always packing workout gear that is made from breathable fabric that’s moisture wicking. Workout gear can also have sun protection properties with UPF fabric so that it also doubles as sunscreen for the areas of my skin that are covered. Some of our favorite brands include Mott50, Athleta, and Nike.
3. Proper Sun Protection:
The necessities include a broad-rimmed hat, sunglasses, a UPF swimsuit, and of course sunscreen. For advice on sunscreen we turn to the advice of dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe. She has provided some of the most comprehensive and scientifically informed sunscreen information we have ever seen. She uses information derived from product testing by neutral third parties like Consumer Reports, product efficacy studies and her own testing to support product claims. One of her top rated sunscreen products is La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios Melt in Milk in UPF 60 and we like it too :)
For those concerned about the environment and chemical blockers found in sunscreen then we recommend Pacifica’s Mineral Sunscreen Coconut Probiotic SPF30 which is free of chemical UV absorbers, PABA, octisalate, avobenzone, octinoxate, and oxybenzone. We refer to this type of sunscreen as a physical blocker.
4. Hydrating Remedies for Post-Sun Skincare:
Pamper yourself and nurture your skin after a day at the beach. Our REJUVENATE Probiotic Night Cream provides the perfect solution. REJUVENATE uses a revolutionary fusion of all four of Nayelle’s core ingredients: probiotic goat milk peptides, fermented sea kelp, snow mushroom and glacial oceanic clay. These ingredients are full of proteins, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants essential to replenishing and moisturizing the skin.
The Aloe Vera plant is also a great natural remedy for post skin care protection and to treat sun burned skin. Having fresh aloe on hand you works best but did you know you can also cut and refrigerate the aloe leaves so you always will have it available for your post-sun skincare treatment.
